IN
the
chronicling of the history of PMA Class 1962, there is the official one
as presented with poignancy and power by our class historian Tito Rimando.
He had presented in glowing and genial manner the achievements and
activities of the class and its members which were a rarity beyond a price.
The class had passed the litmus test of COURAGE, INTEGRITY and LOYALTY
to our country and people. To give meaning , music and motion to
the official account, it would be interesting too to turn the golden pages
of the unofficial journal of the class for the nostalgic garden of memories
in the last four decades. There would be shared experiences of youthful
joys, vicarious pleasures, jovial experiences and endless promises of rare
innocent delights which are passports to the bitter sweet yesteryears.
Fit for the Guinnes Book of Records or Ripley's "Believe it or not" is
the attaining of 44 star ranks in a military class of 77 members. No class
in a military school anywhere can match that record. The firm fraternal
fellowship of Class '62 was borne out of the four years of assiduous association
in the Academy and the unexplainable invisible bond that developed after
graduation. With propitious pride, the members of this unique class displayed
individuality and group resolve of steel, supreme sacrifice, and they wielded
the baton of leadership appropriately.
They likewise lead a spirited and spiritual life with a strong sense of
direction. Coming from the different provinces in the country, not even
a skilled surgeon can diagnose the chromosomic factor that produces the
"unity in diversity" in this unusual aggrupation of military professionals.
